This past weekend, the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) in partnership with the Arab American Institute hosted their Yalla Change National Leadership Conference with the theme of “Growing Leadership from the Grassroots.”
Katherine Hanway – CAAP donor services and program officer – and Jamie Kim – CAAP consultant – were in attendance, sharing expertise with organizations on financial strengths and red flags, networking with Arab American organizations (including some of our grantees), and keeping our pulse on the issues impacting the community and the organizations.
Ms. Hanway partnered with Dione Alexander from the Nonprofit Finance Fund to present the workshop “Telling Your Financial Story to Funders,” where organizations gained an overview of what funders look for in nonprofit financial reports, as well as the importance of financial transparency. Hanway feels that it’s a great opportunity for CAAP staff to participate in the NNAAC Conference:
I enjoy meeting staff from other Arab American organizations and connecting with our grantees. It’s rewarding to see leaders from all over the country come together to learn from each other.
