When everyone chips in and contributes, individual charitable giving doesn’t need to be too big to make a difference. In Ireland, a new campaign based on the power of small, nationwide giving serves as the perfect example of this.
The One Percent Difference, an initiative launched this year in Dublin, seeks to raise giving levels across the country by encouraging everyone to give just one percent of their time, profits, or income to a cause they care about. No matter who you are or how much money you make, the idea is that everyone is empowered to give back. “One of the largest and most significant public awareness campaigns of its type ever undertaken in Ireland,” the One Percent Difference is an excellent example of how developing a culture of philanthropy and fundraising can help build and renew a community for years to come.
