The Center for Arab American Philanthropy would like to congratulate our 2020 Adawia Alousi Scholars! Representing colleges throughout the country, the women who make up this exceptional sisterhood are increasing the visibility of Muslim females in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields.
In addition to their demanding academic schedules, these young women engage in a variety of extracurriculars including tutoring, volunteering at clinics, event-planning through school clubs, and spearheading public service projects. Many of them have also produced scholarly research in areas they are passionate about, including schizophrenia, breast cancer, human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates, breastfeeding and women’s health, and much more. Check out the scholar profiles below.
This scholarship fund is named for Dr. Adawia Alousi, a scientist and educator with a multitude of passions. Established at CAAP in 2016 by the family of the late researcher, this endowed fund hopes to pay forward Dr. Alousi’s spirit of generosity.
