About the fund

The Ebeid Family Fund—established by respected Arab American businessman and philanthropist Russell J. Ebeid—has awarded scholarships since 2009 to underserved youth studying STEM majors at Kettering University, Lourdes University, Michigan Tech University, Wayne State University, University of Detroit Mercy, University of Toledo, Ohio University, and the University of Michigan Dearborn. Each of these prestigious and highly sought after scholarships provides between $4,000 – $7,500 annually, and may be renewable for up to four years. 

Since 2009, the Russell J. Ebeid Scholarship Program has awarded more than 300 scholarships totaling over 1.1 million in funding to university students pursuing their education in STEM. In its inaugural years, the scholarship program focused on supporting Arab American students studying engineering at Kettering University. In 2015 the program expanded to additionally support African American and Latino students from Detroit and the surrounding suburbs who are attending Kettering and Wayne State universities. Now in its fifteenth year, the scholarship program expanded even further to be open to students of various backgrounds who are studying STEM majors at the following schools below.  To read more about Russ Ebeid and the scholarship’s history, click here.

Scholarship Details

The Ebeid Family Fund Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students pursuing STEM studies at the schools listed below. The scholarship may be eligible for renewal for a total of 4 years. The scholarship is open to students of any race/ethnicity (including international students) and is open to undergraduate students of any grade level. While eligibility requirements and award amounts vary by scholarship type, all applicants must meet the minimum GPA requirement, be majoring in a STEM fielddemonstrate financial need, as well as community service/leadership.
