2012 TGI Grants


CAAP's Teen Grant-making Initiative has announced 12 grants to benefit organizations in metro Detroit that serve youth. The grants, which total $4,600, will enhance and support youth leadership training, service learning, health education and the performing arts.

·         Catholic Social Services of Wayne County – $500 to support a career workshop and fair for teen mothers

·         Chadsey Condon Community Organization – $250 to bring low-income youth to Lansing to meet with government officials

·         Detroit Dreamers 2012 – $600 for an after-school tutoring and sports programs for low-income students in Dearborn

·         Detroit-Grosse Pointe Collaborative – $250 for an arts camp to build bridges between youth in Detroit and Grosse Pointe

·         Divine Impressions – $500 for a business and entrepreneurship program for middle school students in Detroit

·         Global Exchange$250 to teach youth about community gardening and energy efficiency

·         Heidelberg Project – $250 to train high school students to teach art to elementary students in Detroit

·         Hype Athletics – $250 to clean up the River Rouge watershed by recruiting more than 300 young volunteers

·         Michigan Nonprofit Association – $750 for student-led service-learning projects in Detroit

·         Mosaic Youth Theatre – $250 to support a college fair and vocal auditions for scholarships for Mosaic Youth participants

·         Southwest Counseling Solutions – $500 for youth in Southwest Detroit to produce a documentary about an initiative to clear abandoned buildings near schools

·         Teen Hype Youth Development – $250 to support a youth-led HIV/STD/teen pregnancy prevention public event
